McKenna Spaulding ‘20 (Storrs, CT)
Major: Neuroscience | Minor: Chemistry, Health Studies Certificate
Internship: Research Assistant in the Psychiatry/Molecular and Systems Biology Department, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (Lebanon, NH)
Why McKenna chose this internship: I chose this research internship because I am particularly interested in the interplay between neurobiology, psychological illness, psychopharmacology, and behavior. Working at this internship will allow me to hone my research skills so that I can take on an active role in the creation of science, and contribute to the advancement of the clinical neuroscience field.
Olivia Lowden ‘19 (Reno, NV)
Major: Neuroscience | Minor: Spanish
Internship: Red Cross Volunteer, at Red Cross Alzheimer’s Center in Málaga, Spain (La Cruz Roja Española)
Why Olivia chose this internship: I chose to work with the Red Cross in Málaga this summer because I have been learning about brain abnormalities and disorders for many years at Dickinson, but have never gotten the opportunity to see them up close. After studying abroad in Málaga this spring, I contacted the Red Cross to see if there were any neuroscience-related volunteer opportunities this summer and found out that there was an Alzheimer’s Day Center in need of extra helpers during the summer months. It has been a great experience so far and has also helped me continue learning Spanish in a medical setting.
