Seven Red Devils Earn UST&FCCCA All-Academic Honors

(New Orleans, La.) – The U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association has announced the Division III Cross Country All-Academic Teams and Individuals for the 2018 season.

Both the Dickinson men and women's programs received team recognition while seven women and two men were honored as individuals.

The Red Devil women's program had an outstanding season, capturing a remarkable 25th consecutive Little Three Championship and placing second at both the Centennial Conference and NCAA Mideast Regional Championships, finishing behind eventual national champion Johns Hopkins.

Dickinson made its 18th straight appearance at the NCAA Division III National Championships, running to 14th in the team standings. The Red Devils were ranked as high as sixth in the UST&FCCCA national standings during the 2018 season.

The Red Devils ran to second in the 47-team field, led by junior Sarah House (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) who came across the line third overall with a time of 22:39. Sophomores Emma Johnston (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) and Isabel Cardi (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) earned All-Region honors with House, posting top-10 finishes, crossing the line eighth and 10th, respectively, with times of 23:00 and 23:10.

The Red Devils placed six runners on the All-Region team, finishing in the top-35. Lucile Ionescu (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) continued her strong senior campaign, clocking a time of 23:52 to place 27th while sophomore Tessa Cassidy (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) came in at 23:56 to earn finish 31st. Sophomore Allyson Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) enjoyed a return to her hometown with an All-Region performance, posting a time of 24:00 to finish 33rd overall.

All six runners were named All-Academic Individuals, also joined by first-year Isabella Fife (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey). The Red Devils were also well represented on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll as 18 runners met the criteria of holding a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.40 or higher while being a sophomore or above.
