(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team split a tri-match here on Saturday, sweeping visiting Bryn Mawr College, 3-0, in the opening match. The Red Devils suffered a 3-0 setback to Lycoming College in the nightcap.
The Red Devils had a strong start against Bryn Mawr, winning the opening two sets, (25-14, 25-10). The Owls regrouped and put together a solid third set before Dickinson closed out the match, 25-20.
First-year Elise Butler (Chester Springs, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) led the attack with nine kills while Hannah Riley (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) and Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) each tallied eight. Riley was strong at the net on the defensive side as well, adding three block assists.
Sophomore Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) handed out 27 assists, adding seven digs and a pair of aces. Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) picked up 14 digs and served up three aces. Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) added nine digs.
Singer led the way with eight kills against Lycoming while Butler had another strong outing as well, recording seven kills. Riley chipped in with six in the nightcap and Grace Stromberg (Lutherville, Md./Notre Dame Prep) came on to record five.
Banker reached double-figures with 11 digs with Lopez adding nine. Alex Berezan (Surrey, B.C./Earl Marriott Secondary) and Allgaier dished out 14 and 13 assists, respectively.
The Red Devils move to 9-15 overall and 2-5 in the Centennial Conference.
They are off midweek before traveling to Haverford College on Saturday for a tri-match with the 'Fords and Manhattanville College.
