Strong Start Falls Short in Devils' Season Finale

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team wrapped up the season at Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils had a strong start, falling 26-24 in the opening set as the host Bullets came away with a 3-0 decision.

Dickinson held strong in the opening set, playing even with the Bullets to start the match. The Red Devils erased a four-point deficit to pull even, 20-20, and tied at 23 before Gettysburg was able to claim the set, 26-24.

Gettysburg went on a 5-0 run, late in the second set to pull in front, 2-0, with a 25-20 decision. They took an early lead in the third, en route to a 25-11 set to close out the match.

First-year Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) tallied 18 assist and seven digs while classmate Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) picked up 19 digs.

Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) led the attack with nine kills to go with seven digs while senior Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) added five kills and served a pair of aces.

Erin Bongo (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) reached double-figures with 11 digs, adding four kills, and Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) chipped in with 10 digs while Kacey Waleski (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) had three aces and four digs.

Gettysburg improved to 20-8 overall and 5-5 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils finish the season 9-17 and 2-8 in the CC.
