Amanda Berg (Rochester Institute of Technology ’11) joins the Dickinson coaching staff for the 2017-18 season, working with the Red Devil men and women’s tennis programs. Berg brings a strong coaching background and had a successful playing career at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Berg began her playing career at the College of New Jersey, earning New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Rookie of the Year honors before transferring to RIT. She was a three-time All-Conference selection in both singles and doubles, and served as a team captain for two years at RIT.
As a competitive junior, Berg finished as a three-star recruit, ranking in the top 20 in the Middle States for 18-and-under, and was in the top 300 in the national USTA 18-and-under rankings.
Berg has been a certified teaching professional since 2007 and served as an assistant coach with the William Peace University women’s program during the 2013-14 season. She has also taught at the Fayetteville Racquet Club, Mendham Country Club and Paven’s Tennis Academy.
In addition to coaching, Berg has served as a guest lecturer and teaching assistant. In 2014-15, she was a Lewis Hine Documentary Fellow with South Bronx United, a non-profit that uses soccer as a tool for social change. During that time, she also coached 10-and-under players at Court 16, Brooklyn’s first kids’ only tennis club.
Berg received a B.F.A. in photojournalism from RIT in 2011 and earned an M.F.A. in experimental and documentary arts from Duke University in 2014.
