Women's Tennis Tames Bears 7-2 on Saturday

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team had a great performance on Saturday, turning back Ursinus College, 7-2, at the Hays Tennis Courts.

The Red Devils had a strong start, sweeping the doubles matches for a 3-0 lead. Junior Lauren Altschuler (Malvern, Pa./Eastern) earned a win in the top singles flight (7-5, 6-2) and joined first-year Olivia Shea (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) for an 8-5 decision at number two doubles.

Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julian's) earned the point at number one doubles, joining Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) for an 8-2 win. Nunes won third singles, going 7-6, 10-4.

Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) joined Jaclyn Baum (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) for the win in third doubles (8-4), and won her singles match (6-3, 6-4).

Sophomore Madeleine Kuhns-Baione (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) added a point in the fifth singles flight, winning (6-2, 6-3).

Ursinus slips to 10-4 overall and 3-2 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils improve to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in the CC. They travel to McDaniel College on Wednesday to face the Green Terror at 4:00 pm.
