Red Devils Sweep Early Events in Friday Night Win

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team had a strong start on Friday night, sweeping a number of events in the early going on the way to a 108-85 decision over visiting Cabrini University.

The Red Devils opened the meet by claiming the top three spots in the 200-medley relay. Senior Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) anchored the winning relay to a time of 1:55.06 and claimed the top spot in the 50-freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly events.

Classmate Katie Schmidt (Plymouth, Minn./Breck School) swam the lead leg of the relay and had a strong exhibition showing in the 100-yard backstroke. First-year Maddi Vlattas (Herndon, Va./Westfield) swam the second leg and touched the wall first in the 200-Individual medley with a time of 2:19.21. She also had a strong showing in the 200-breaststroke.

Junior Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) joined the winning relay and captured the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 56.12.

Sophomore Madison Littlepage (Aldie, Va./John Champe) won the first distance event, posting a mark of 11:40.27 on the 1000-yard freestyle. Classmate Hannah Griffith (Lansdale, Pa./William Penn Charter) came in second at 11:54.26.

Senior Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) swam to the win in the 200-freestyle, clocking a time of 2:01.88, and had a strong outing in the 500-free, swimming exhibition in that event.

Senior Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) earned a pair of silvers on night, finishing second in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle while first-year Sasha Arefyev (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side) was third in both events.

Madeline Callahan (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) and Lindsay Robinson (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) finished second and third in the 200-Invididual medley and placed second with the medley relay.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Audree Khalishah (Jakarta, Indonesia/Jakarta International School) and Hadley Starr (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) came in second and third in the butterfly while Lauren Woznicki (Media, Pa./Penncrest) and Samantha Florio (Stamford, Conn./Wilton) were second and third in the 50-freestyle.

The Red Devils improve to 6-2 on the season. Sunday's Centennial Conference match-up at McDaniel College has been postponed to Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
