Swim Teams Earn 48th Consecutive Scholar All-America Honors

(Norfolk, Va.) - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has named 710 teams to its Scholar All-America list for the Spring 2018 Semester. The teams represent 476 institutions from across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions. The CSCAA recognizes teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Both the men and women's programs at Dickinson received the honor for the 48th consecutive semester under Head Coach Paul Richards.

Success in the classroom and pool went hand-in-hand. On average, twenty-three of the top twenty-five top finishers in each of the NCAA Championships earned the award, with every NCAA title-winning team in all three divisions posting a GPA of 3.17 or higher. Nine teams finished among the top ten nationally in both team GPA and at their respective national championships

CSCAA Executive Director Joel Shinofield feels much of the credit, however, goes to the coaches. "Our coaches understand that the essence of intercollegiate athletics is the experience each student-athlete receives, and an emphasis on academics reflects what coaches feel is most important."

The Red Devils were well represented on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll as six women and five men have earned maintained grade-point-averages of 3.4 or higher.

Seniors Samantha Holden (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson) and Jake Beley (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) each made their third appearance on the CC Academic Honor Roll while Allen Belo (Odenton, Md./Severn School) and Devon Korhammer (Easton, Pa./Moravian Academy) were two-time selections.
