Devils Swim Well, But Bullets Claim CC Win

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team had some solid performances against visiting Gettysburg College on Wednesday night, but the Bullets came out on top, 118-85.

Junior Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) captured both distance events, winning the 1000 free with a time of 10:50.25 and the 500 free with a mark of 5:20.45. Demetria Ruhl (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) was second in the 1000 free, posting a time of 1:56.87.

The Red Devils went one-two-three in the 500 freestyle as Katie Schmidt (Plymouth, Minn./Breck School) touched the wall second (54:26.07) and Madison Littlepage (Aldie, Va./John Champe) was third with a mark of 5:27.84.

Schmidt led-off the 200 medley relay to a second-place finish with a time of 1:57.07 and placed third in the 200 freestyle, just behind Littlepage as they came in with times of 2:02.70 and 2:03.76.

Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) led-off the winning 200 free relay to a time of 1:44.55. She was second with the medley relay and second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.12.

Sophomore Lindsay Robinson (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) was part of the 200 medley relay, adding third-place showings in the 200 individual medley (2:23.62) and the 100 breaststroke (1:15.09).

Junior Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) anchored the medley relay and placed third in the 50 freestyle (26.59) while classmate Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) placed third in the 100 free (58.17) and swam the third leg of the free relay.

Samantha Florio (Stamford, Conn./Wilton) and Samantha Holden (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson) completed the free relay and Devon Korhammer (Easton, Pa./Moravian Academy) was fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:05.69).

The Red Devils slip to 7-6 overall and 2-4 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Saturday, hosting Swarthmore College at 1:00 pm.
