(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson women's swim team suffered its second conference setback of the season, a 113-92 decision at Washington College on Saturday afternoon
The Red Devils had a strong start, winning the 400-medley relay. Junior Katie Schmidt (Plymouth, Minn./Breck School) swam the lead leg and added a win the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:13.71.
Senior Samantha Holden (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson) anchored the medley relay and swam the lead leg of the second-place free relay.
Sophomore Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) joined the medley relay and had a pair of second-place showings in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, clocking times of 25.78 and 55.72.
Junior Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) was third in the 50 free (26.64) and second with the free relay while Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) anchored the free relay and placed third in the 100 free (58.66).
Junior Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) earned three silvers on the day. She actually tied with the top time in the 500 freestyle at (5:19.78), but was second on a judge's decision. She was also second in the 1000 freestyle (10:53.85) and with the free relay.
First-year Madison Littlepage (Aldie, Va./John Champe) placed third in both the 1000 and 500 free events with marks of 11:20.59 and 5:31.55. Classmate Hannah Griffith (Lansdale, Pa./William Penn Charter) added a win with the medley relay and was second in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.93).
Sophomore Demetria Ruhl (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:17.21 and Lindsay Robinson (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) was third in the 200 individual medley, clocking a time of 2:24.23.
The Red Devils slip to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the Centennial Conference. They are on the road again next Saturday, traveling to Franklin & Marshall for a tri-meet with Cabrini College at 1:00 pm.
