Swimmers Face Defending Champs in Season Opener

(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team had a tough opener, competing at defending Centennial Conference champion, Ursinus College on Saturday. The Bears captured a 134-66 decision to start the 2017-18 season.

Sophomore Demetria Ruhl (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) captured the 1000 and 500 yard freestyle events with times of 11:26.19 and 5:27.94, and anchored the winning 400 free relay with a mark of 3:18.25.

First-year Madison Littlepage (Aldie, Va./John Champe) placed third in the 1000 freestyle (11:26.43) and joined the winning free relay.

Sophomore Lindsay Robinson (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) and first-year Hannah Mulcahy (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) placed second and third in the 200 breaststroke with times of 2:40.13 and 2:53.59.

Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Samantha Holden (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson) swam the third and fourth legs of the third-place medley relay and placed third and fourth in the 50 freestyle with marks of 26.05 and 26.95.

Senior Devon Korhammer (Easton, Pa./Moravian Academy) led-off the medley relay and joined the first-place free relay while Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) swam the lead leg of the free relay and added a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle (57.95). First-year Hannah Griffith (Lansdale, Pa./William Penn Charter) rounded out the medley, swimming  the third leg.

The Red Devils travel to Lebanon Valley College next Sunday to join Wilkes University for a tri-meet at 2:00 pm.
