(Amherst, Mass.) – The #11-ranked Dickinson women's soccer team advanced to the second round of the NCAA National Championship, scoring twice in the second half to post a 3-1 victory over Farmingdale State at Amherst College on Saturday afternoon.
The teams traded goals in the first half with the Red Devils striking first. Sophomore Charlotte Glancey (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery) finished an assist from senior Addy Zandi (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson), just under 13 minutes into the match.
Farmingdale would pull even in the 37th minute as Edasia Martinez tallied her ninth goal of the season.
The Red Devils had another chance late in the first half, forcing a corner kick with just over a minute to play.
Dickinson would strike twice in the final 12 minutes to secure its ticket to the second round. Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year Meg Tate (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) would net both goals for the Red Devils, giving her 20 on the season.
Tate scored unassisted with 12:46 remaining and struck again with an assist from senior Elizabeth Krause (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) with 9:27 on the clock.
The Red Devils outshot the Rams 19-10 on the afternoon, closing down the defense in the second half to only allow one. Both teams forced five corners on the day.
Daniella Ford made nine saves as Farmingdale finishes the season 14-7-3.
Sophomore Carli Boyer (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) made six saves in the nets for the Red Devils as they improve to 15-2-4 on the year.
The Red Devils will face host Amherst College at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
