(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team suffered a 13-10 setback at Haverford College as the 'Fords rallied past the Red Devils, 13-10, on Saturday.
Haverford led 3-2 before the Red Devils went on a 5-0 run behind two goals each from Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) and Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman), and one from Anne Dunster (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich) to put Dickinson up, 7-3, with 6:03 to play in the first half.
The 'Fords struck twice, scoring with 14 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 7-5 at the break. They started the second with three straight goals in the opening 10 minutes to pull in front, 8-7.
Dickinson countered with goals from Dunster and first-year Hannah Posencheg (Ardmore, Pa./Friends' Central) to retake the lead at the 18:35 mark.
Haverford strung together a 3-0 run to lead, 11-9, with 6:26 remaining in regulation. Dunster brought the Red Devils within one on a free position but Haverford tack on a pair in the final 1:26 for the 13-10 win.
Dunster tallied three goals, one assist and three draw controls on the day. Parker added a pair of draws and three ground balls while Mack Maurer (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) returned to the line-up to add a goal and four draws.
First-year goaltender Avery Priest (San Rafael, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) turned away 12 shots and had a pair of ground balls.
Haverford improves to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 5-6 and 2-2 in conference play. Dickinson travels to Swarthmore College next Saturday for a 12:00 pm start.
