Rachael Czerna '21 (Milford, NJ)
Major: Environmental Studies and Policy Management
Job: Summer Nature Camp Counselor, at Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation (Hunterdon, NJ)
Why Rachael chose this job: I have always had a passion for the outdoors and the environment. This is because of the influence of my parents, and also because of nature camp where I learned valuable life skills, such as orienteering and shelter building, while also performing field and stream studies. It is because of these experiences that I have such a deep appreciation for the ecosystem around me. As a counselor, I do activities with the campers that foster understanding of habitats, adaptations, and other ecological concepts. As a double major in Environmental Studies and Policy Management, it is my end goal to work with environmental law and regulations. Being a Nature Camp Counselor this summer has given me the chance to not only learn more about the environment, but also teach today's youth about it. Working for Hunterdon County has also been a learning experience, allowing me to get a closer look into how our county government works, and allowing me to meet people who advocate for conservation in my area.
