Bullets Force Split in Nine Inning Nightcap

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson softball team split a thrilling twin-bill at Gettysburg College, claiming the opener 4-3 and suffering a 4-3 setback in nine innings in game two.

The Bullets tallied a run in the first inning, but the Red Devils would answer in the top of the third on doubles from Marissa Fabbo (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham & Munson) and Brigitte Gutpelet (Norristown, Pa./Penn Charter).

Kat Parise (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) singled to lead-off the sixth and Kristen Acocella (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) hit a two-out single to start a rally.

Hannah Seburn (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) doubled in a run and scored on an RBI single from Lindsey Keller (Leonardville, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) to stretch the lead to 4-1.

The Bullets scored twice in the bottom of the seventh, but the Red Devils held on for the win.

Acocella went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Gutpelet went 2-for-4 and Seburn finished 1-for-1 with a run scored and an RBI. Madison Milaszewski (Rutland, Mass./Sutton) got the win, recording 10 strikeouts while allowing just six hits.

The Red Devils scored lone runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings to take a 3-0 lead. The Bullets answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth and plated one in the seventh to force extra innings. They came through with a run in the bottom of the ninth to force the split.

Gutpelet went 3-for-5 in the nightcap with an RBI and a run scored. Parise went 2-for-4 and Seburn added a double. Killian Kueny (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) went the distance in game two, striking out four while scatting seven hits.

The Red Devils move to 14-12 overall and 7-1 in the conference. They travel to Haverford College on Saturday for a 1:00 pm double-header.
