Red Devils Split Sunday Double-Header With Bullets

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson softball team split a Centennial Conference double-header at Gettysburg on Sunday afternoon. The Red Devils won the opener, 3-1, but fell in the nightcap, 5-2.

Gettysburg pushed a run across in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead. The Red Devils capitalized on an error and a single off the leg of the pitcher to load the bases in the fourth inning.

Senior Nicole Clayton (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) hit a three-run triple to put the Red Devils on top and they would hold the Bullets scoreless the rest of the way.

Aileen Reilly allowed just three hits and recorded seven strikeouts in the loss. Junior Madison Milaszewski (Rutland, Mass./Sutton) scattered six hits and struck out three to earn the win.

Julie Siecinski (Edison, N.J./J.P. Stevens) and Kat Parise (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) had the other two hits for the Devils and each scored a run. Maggie McConney (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) reached on an error and came around on the triple as well.

The Bullets used five hits to score three runs in the first inning of game two and added lone runs in the third and fourth to take a 5-0 lead.

The Red Devils looked to rally but came up short, scoring twice in the top of the seventh. Lindsey Keller (Leonardtown, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) reached on an error and moved on a single from Alicia Lane (Sterling, Mass./Nashoba Regional).

First-year Brigitte Gutpelet (Norristown, Pa./William Penn Charter) singled to scored pinch-runner Alissa Lema (Lutherville, Md./Townson) and Keller came across on an error.

Six different players recorded hits in the nightcap. Killian Kueny (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) recorded four strikeouts in the setback.
