(Selinsgrove, Pa.) – The Dickinson softball team finally returned to the diamond on Thursday, but suffered a pair of setbacks at Susquehanna University, falling 4-0 and 8-0.
The Red Devils had a solid pitching performance from junior Madison Milaszewski (Rutland, Mass./Sutton) in the opener, holding the River Hawks to two runs in the first and fifth innings while recording 11 strikeouts.
The Red Devils recorded seven hits in the opener, led by a 3-for-3 outing from senior Nicole Clayton (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley). First-year Brigitte Gutpelet (Norristown, Pa./William Penn Charter) singled and drew a walk.
Susquehanna scored four runs in the third inning to take a 6-0 lead in game two. They tacked on a pair in the fifth for the final of 8-0.
The Red Devils were held to just three hits but also only recorded three strikeouts in the nightcap.
The Red Devils slip to 9-7 overall. They are scheduled to open Centennial Conference play at Swarthmore College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
