(Oshkosh, Wisc.) –Dickinson senior Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) ran his final collegiate cross country race at the NCAA National Championships on Saturday in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Herrmann capped a great career and an outstanding senior season, finishing 86th overall in a field of 280 runners. He clocked a time of 25:30 on the 8K course, trimming more than 30 seconds off his fourth-place time at the NCAA Mideast Regionals last weekend.
Herrmann led the Red Devils to a 4-0 start to the season and to a third-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships. He captured his second straight individual title at the Little Three Championships to lead Dickinson to its 22nd consecutive team title.
He added back-to-back wins at the De Sales and Connecticut College Invitationals before crossing the line first at the conference championship as well to claim Runner of the Year honors.
North Central (Ill.) had the top two finishers to claim the team championship with 43 points. Dhruvil Patel posted a winning time of 24:24 to lead North Central while Washington University (Mo.) finished second with 110.
