Red Devils Claim Galen Piper to Start 2018

(Shippensburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's cross country team captured the team title with a strong season-opening performance at the nine-team, Galen Piper Invitational at Shippensburg University.

The Red Devils had three runners in the top 10 as they combined for 42 points to better second-place Messiah with 55. Junior Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) led the way with a time of 19:42, finishing second overall behind an alumni runner from Division II Shippensburg.

Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) and Duncan Hopkins (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) joined Descavish as the top collegiate finishers with marks of 19:47 and 19:58, respectively.

The Red Devils added two more top-20 showings as junior Matt Loalbo (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) came across the line 12th (20:26) and sophomore Odin Bules (Union Mills, Ind./South Central) placed 19th with a mark of 20:36).

The Red Devils return to action next Friday, traveling to Gettysburg for the Little Three Championships, competing against Franklin & Marshall and the host Bullets at the Battlefield.
