(Lewisburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's and women's outdoor track & field team had some strong performances at the Bucknell Distance Carnival on Friday night. The Red Devils had a solid showing against competition from across the divisions.
Junior Sofia Canning (Portland, Maine/Waynflete) finished sixth overall, behind all Division I runners, clocking the second-best time in program history of 35:48.26 in the 10,000 meter invitational race.
Sarah House (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) posted a program-best time for a first-year in the 5,000 with a mark of 17:10.58. Kelsey Horowitz (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) and Lucile Ionescu (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) both tuned in season-best performances in the 5,000-meters as well.
Hannah Gore (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) was second in the open 1500 meters, crossing the line in 4:41.24 to rank ninth on the program all-time list. First-year Tessa Cassidy (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) posted a time of 17:50.48 to place 11th overall in the 5,000.
Senior Jamie George (Hightstown, N.J./The Peddie School) ran her first-ever 1500 and placed third in her section with a time of 4:49.60.
Amanda Jimcosky (Benton, Pa./Northwest Area) cleared a height of 1.60 meters (5'-3") to tied for sixth in the high jump.
Senior Mason Hepner (Mt. Joy, Pa./Manheim Central) posted the second-fastest time in school history and ranks second in the nation in the with a 3:48.49. Classmate Eli Laue (Troy, Pa./Troy) ran a career-best in the 1500 with a time of 4:04.41.
Sophomore Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) ran to third in the mile to lead the men's team with a time of 3:56.55 ranking sixth on program list. First-year Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) was third in the 5,000, coming in with a time of 14:53.33.
The Red Devils will send a contingent on athletes back to Bucknell on Saturday.
