Red Devils Serve Bullets 9-0 Setback

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team had a strong outing at Gettysburg College, posting a 9-0 win over the Bullets on Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Devils swept the doubles matches with Derek Chen (Cranbury Township, Pa./Shady Side Academy) and Justin Pace (Madison, N.J./Daniel Hand) holding on in the top flight, 8-6.

Sam Coan (Washington, D.C./Bullis School) and Leonid Sorkin (St. Petersburg, Russia/U. of Nebraska H.S.) earned the point in the second flight and Joey Bolanos (San Salvador, El Salvador/Escuela Americans) and Andrew Lai (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater) won the third, both with scores of 8-3.

The Red Devils claimed straight set victories in singles. Sorkin won the top flight (6-2, 6-1) while Coan and Pace each surrendered just one game in the second and third flights.

Chen did not allow a point in the fourth flight. First-year Andrew Lai (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater) and sophomore Bryce Perritt (Allentown, Pa./Lawrenceville) posted wins in the fifth and sixth flights respectively to complete the sweep.

The Red Devils improve to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the Centennial Conference. They are on the road again on Saturday, traveling to Ursinus College.
