Men's Tennis Opens Spring With Setback at Salisbury

(Salisbury, Md.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team opened the spring season at Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon. The host Seagulls had a strong start in doubles and went on to claim a 9-0 decision.

The Seagulls opened with three wins in doubles, posting 8-1 scores in the first and second flights. First-year Justin Pace (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and Derek Chen (Cranbury Township, Pa./Shady Side Academy) battled in an 8-3 setback in the third flight.

Pace had a strong showing in the second singles flight, falling (6-0, 5-7, 10-7). First-year Leonid Sorkin (St. Petersburg, Russia/University of Nebraska H.S.) suffered a tough setback in the top flight (6-1, 7-6).

The Red Devils are on the road again next Saturday and Sunday, traveling to the Ranger Invitational at Drew University.
