Division I Loyola Slips Past Devils 4-3

(Baltimore, Md) – The Dickinson men's tennis team turned in a great performance at Division I Loyola University on Wednesday afternoon, but the Greyhounds were able to slip past the Red Devils 4-3.

The hosts led 1-0 afternoon doubles, claiming all three matches to earn the point. First-years Leonid Sorkin (St. Petersburg, Russia/University of Nebraska High School) and Justin Pace (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) battled in the top spot, falling 7-5.

Sophomore Joey Bolanos (San Salvador, El Salvador/Escuela Americans) and first-year Andrew Lai (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater) played a strong match in the second flight, falling 6-4.

The Red Devils claimed three flights in singles, led by Sorkin in the top spot, posting a 6-1, 6-3 win.

Pace and Lai earned points in the third and fourth flights with Pace going (6-1, 6-3) and Lai claimed the four spot, (6-4, 6-3).

Sophomore Bryce Perritt (Allentown, Pa./Lawrenceville) had a strong finish in the fifth, dropping a 6-1, 6-4 decision and Vincent Tover Dias (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) went (3-6, 4-6) in the sixth flight.

The Red Devils finish the fall schedule and will return to action next semester, traveling to Salisbury University on February 16th for a 1:00 pm match.
