Red Devils Close Out Break With Thrilling 5-4 Win

(Orlando, Fla.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team finished a strong showing in Florida, holding off Colorado College, 5-4, to improve to 6-2 on the season.

The Red Devils used a solid start, sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 advantage into singles.

Seniors Shawn Diniz (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) and Samuel Loring (New York, N.Y./Blair Academy) survived a thriller in the top doubles flight, winning 9-8. Loring held on for another solid point in singles, going (7-6 (4), 6-2). Diniz dropped a hard fought match in the top flight (7-6 (4), 6-4).

First-year Joey Bolanos (San Salvador, El Salvador/Escuela Americans) earned the fifth point with a straight set victory in the number five singles flight (6-1, 6-2) after posting an 8-5 win in doubles with senior Nick Reese (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon).

Peter Schmidt (Laurel Springs) and Derek Chen (Cranbury Township, Pa./Cranbury Township) claimed second doubles, 8-5.

The Red Devils open Centennial Conference play next Saturday, traveling to Johns Hopkins for an 11:00 am start.
