(Washington, D.C.) – The #17-ranked Dickinson men's squash team opened play at the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships on Friday afternoon, hosted by George Washington University.
The Red Devils had three first-years qualify for the tournament. Finn Trimble (Whangarei, New Zealand/Whangarei) earned the number five seed in the Malloy Cup: B Division West and posted a first round win over Yale's Yohan Pandole, going (11-7, 13-11, 11-8).
Trimble suffered a 3-1 setback in the second round, falling (11-8, 7-11, 11-7, 11-3) to Rochester's Lawrence Kuhn.
Sergio Martin (Queretaro, Mexico/Redwood, Calif.) was a #2-seed and advanced to the second round of the Malloy Cup: B Division South bracket with an (11-4, 11-7, 11-4) win over McLeod Abbott from Bates College, but fell to Harvard's Julien Gosset (11-8, 11-4, 11-6).
Frank Goossens (Schaarbeekstraat, Amsterdam/Vossius Gymnasium) suffered a first-round setback to George Washington's Inaki DeLaurrauri but bounced back with an (11-7, 11-7, 11-2) win in the consolation bracket.
Goossens will face the University of Pennsylvania's James Watson at 11:40 am on Saturday.
