(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team came out on top of a key Centennial Conference match up on Saturday afternoon, using a late goal to post a 2-1 win over visiting Haverford College.
The Red Devils put a goal on the board first as Brendan McGovern (Burlington, Vt./Kimball Union Academy, N.H.) celebrated senior day with a goal, just over two minutes into the match, finishing an assist from sophomore Tayler Eynon (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day).
Haverford answered in the 11th minute as Nick Janelli found a look, just inside the penalty area and found the corner of the net to tie the game.
The match would remain a stalemate until just over 20 minutes remaining. The Red Devils drew a free kick in the middle of field, just outside the penalty area. Junior Mohamed Kourouma (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross) went around the wall and into the upper-90 to put Dickinson back on top.
Haverford would have chances, putting a shot off the post as forced a number of late corners. The Red Devils would stand strong with strong play in the net from senior Frederick Meagher (Southport, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe).
Meagher finished with seven saves on the day as Dickinson improves to 9-6 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
Michael Iacono made two saves and got some help with a defensive clear off the line as well as Haverford moves to 7-5-3 overall and 3-3-1 in the CC.
The Red Devils are home again on Wednesday, hosting Muhlenberg College at 7:00 pm.
