(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team had overtime in its sights with #4-ranked Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday night but the host Diplomats escaped with a late goal to hold off the Red Devils 2-1.

The Red Devils outshot the Diplomats 11-6 in the first half but neither team was able to put a goal on the board before the break.

First-year Alex Thompson-Hill (Mountain Lakes. N.J./Mountain Lakes) finished an assist from Ronan Higgins (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Shipley School) with a shot from the top of the area to put Dickinson up 1-0 in the 54th minute.

The Diplomats struck just moments later to knot the game on a goal from Christian Avila Nere off an assist from Alex Lalovic.

The teams traded opportunities at the 15-minute mark as the Diplomats fired a shot right at goaltender Frederick Meagher (Southport, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) before the Red Devils countered with a shot over the cross bar.

The Diplomats had another strong chance as Steven Yakita hit a shot just wide of the net.

Dallan Moore got a look with 1:20 remaining in regulation and placed the ball in the right corner to give F&M the 2-1 decision.

The Red Devils finished the night with a 19-9 edge in shots and holding a 5-4 advantage in corners. Dickinson forced seven saves from Christian Amoroso while Meagher finished with a pair.

The Red Devils move to 5-5-0 on the season and 2-1-0 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Ursinus College on Saturday at Miller Memorial Field. Opening kick-off is set for 4:30 pm.
