(Aston, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team evened its record at 4-4, putting three goals on the board in a 3-0 win at Neumann University on Tuesday night.
The teams played even to a scoreless draw in the first half. The Red Devils outshot the Knights 10-3 while each team put three shots on net and forced three corners before the break.
Neumann came out in the second half and immediately went on the attack, sending a shot over the crossbar in the opening minute. The Red Devils made a couple of nice runs to counter but were unable to create a quality chance.
They would take advantage of an opportunity later as Tayler Eynon (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) served a free kick from long range into the back of the net with 38 minutes remaining in regulation. The ball may have been intended for a teammate but either way was brilliantly placed, dropping just under the bar and into the net.
The Red Devils had another strong chance minutes later but slipped off-sides on the break. They found a groove and another breakout was just out of the reach of Kevin Gilbert (Boxford, Mass./Phillips Exeter Academy, N.H.) and into the hands of the goalkeeper.
Mohamed Kourouma (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross) had a nice takeaway and worked into the attack with some nice footwork but the Knights were able to stall the run.
Gilbert would break through again and find Brendan McGovern (Burlington, Vt./Kimberly Union Academy) to double the lead to 2-0 with 23 minutes to play in regulation.
Dickinson struck again on another freekick as Isaac Bradbury (Toronto, Canada/St. Andrew's College) stretched the lead to 3-0.
The Red Devils finished the game with a 15-10 shot advantage and a 5-3 edge in corners.
Senior goaltender Frederick Meagher (Southport, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) finished with six saves on the night.
The Red Devils improve to 4-4 overall. The return home to face McDaniel College on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
