(Scranton, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team slipped past the University of Scranton, 2-1, in overtime on Tuesday night.
Senior Ward Van de Water (Warrenton, Va./Highland) tallied his seventh goal of the season and junior Mohammed Kane (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross) netted the game-winner with just under eight minutes remaining in the first overtime.
Van de Water rattled a PK off the post to put the Red Devils on the board in the fourth minute.
The Royals answered on a nice connection from Aiden Thronell to Jon Roberts to tie the match, just before halftime.
The teams battled through a scoreless second half to set the stage for Kane's golden goal, beating the defense at the top of the area to lift the Red Devils to 8-3-2 on the season.
Dickinson outshot the hosts 16-12 but Scranton held a 5-3 advantage in corners.
Blake Hammert made five saves and Jake Hodofski added one for the Royals. Junior Frederick Meagher (Southport, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) made four saves in the nets for the Red Devils.
Dickinson returns home to host Gettysburg College on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
