(Kansas City, Mo.) – The Dickinson College men and women's soccer programs have both been honored with the 2017-18 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.
The Red Devil men were one of 293 programs to receive recognition, posting a combined team grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher for the entire 2017-18 academic year. The Red Devil women joined 488 other programs to earn the honor.
The Red Devils made the program's ninth NCAA appearance under veteran Head Coach Brian Redding. They advanced to the final of the 2017 Centennial Conference Championship and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament last fall, finishing 11-7-3 overall and 4-3-2 in the conference.
The women's team just missed a spot in the playoffs, despite putting together a great season under first-year Head Coach Ted Zingman. The Red Devils started the season with six straight wins behind five shutout performances and finished 11-5-1 overall and 5-4-1 in conference play.
The United Soccer Coaches release the announcement of the teams honored in the fall of the following season.
This fall the Red Devil men are 7-3-2 on the year and 3-1-1 in the conference. The women are also 7-3-2 this season, holding a 3-2-1 mark in the CC. The men are scheduled to travel to the University of Scranton for a 7:00 pm kick-off. The women are home on Wednesday night, hosting Widener University at 7:00 pm on Miller Memorial Field.
