(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's soccer team hosted #1-ranked Messiah College to Miller Memorial Field on Wednesday night. The Falcons proved worthy of their ranking, posting a 5-2 win over the Red Devils to move to 4-0-1 on the year.

Nick West tallied three unassisted goals to lead the charge, netting the first in the ninth minute. The Falcons would strike again, just over a minute later as David Alejos made the score 2-0 with 34:55 remaining in the half.

West sandwiched a pair of goals around a scoring strike from senior Ward Van de Water (Warrenton, Va./Highland) to put Messiah in front, 4-1, in the 54th minute.

Frederick Cisse (New Haven, Conn./Pomfret School) kept the Devils' hopes alive with a goal in the 81st minute, cutting the deficit to 4-2.

The Falcons added an extra insurance goal on a break-away from Luke Brautigam, with just under four minutes remaining in regulation.

The Falcons held a 21-9 advantage in shots, but the Red Devils held the visitors to just four corners.

Messiah improves to 4-0-1 on the season while Dickinson moves to 2-2-1 overall. The Red Devils are home again on Saturday, hosting Swarthmore College in the Centennial Conference opener. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
