(Owings Mills, Md.) – The #16-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team knocked-off the #2-ranked team in the country for the second straight year, going 2-0 at the Green Turtle Classic. The Red Devils scored seven goals in the second quarter, on the way to a 15-8 victory on Saturday.
Denison scored the only two goals of a defensive first quarter. Charlie DeMuth (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) controlled the ground ball on the opening face-off off the second and went straight to goal to put the Devils on the board.
Brodie Phillips (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) fed Tucker Carney (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and Max Menkes (Potomac, Md./Bullis) slipped one past the goaltender to make the score 5-2.
Strods kept the Red Devils rolling off an assist from Menkes, forcing the Big Red to call its second timeout of the half, with 5:03 to play.
The half would end with the Red Devils in front, 7-2. Denison drew a penalty and started the second half with a free possession.
The Devils killed the penalty and then tacked on three more goals to stretch the margin to 10-2 as Maher scored and assisted Goles before DeMuth found the net with his second of the game.
Denison finally answered but the Devils countered with a hat-trick from Strods on a beautiful feed from Jack Doran (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford School).
Mitchell Andres (East Lyme, Conn./Berkshire) caught in the inside the post for a 12-3 advantage, with five minutes to play in the third.
