Mounties Hold Off Late Run to Top Red Devils

(Cresson, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team suffered its third setback to start the season, falling 73-65 at Mt. Aloysius on Saturday.

The Mounties led early and pulled in front 21-12 with a three-pointer at the midpoint of the half.

Adam Drummond (Cork, Ireland/Taft School, Conn.) hit a three-pointer to pull the Red Devils within four at the 3:25 mark before Nate Christian answered with a three on the other end and the hosts built the lead to 36-27 at the break.

Christian hit back-to-back three-pointers to give the Mounties a 46-29 advantage with 14 minutes to play.

The Red Devils looked to keep pace with triples from Ryan Devine (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and Dan Conlan (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) but Mounties were able to answer.

Dickinson made a final run as Onye Okoro (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) hit a pair of free throws before a lay up and three-pointer from Ryan Robinson (Vienna, Va./George Marshall) and a dunk by Conlan made it an eight-point game at 60-52.

Okoro hit two more free throws and Robinson scored again to pull the Red Devils within four with 3:45 left to play.

Free throws would secure the win for Mt. Aloysius despite another three from Conlan and two scores from Chris Bates (Ellicott City, Md./Boy's Latin) down the stretch.

Conlan led the Red Devils with 14 points while added 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Drummond reached double figures with 10 points, adding four rebounds and three assists.

Bates finished with nine points and five rebounds and Jack Tierney (Darien, Conn./Darien) tallied six points and five rebounds as well.

The Red Devils (0-3) are on the road again on Tuesday, opening Centennial Conference play at Muhlenberg College in an 8:00 pm tip-off.
