(Dallas, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team made a second half run at Misericordia University on Sunday, but the host Cougars were able to take the win, 86-70, to improve to 3-1 on the season.

A slow start saw the Cougars open an early 7-0 advantage before the Red Devils called timeout and countered with an 11-0 run to force a timeout from Misericordia.

First-year Chris Bates (Ellicott City, Md./Boys' Latin) started the run with a dish from Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) and the Red Devils were off with Allen scoring twice and first-year Jack Tierney (Darien, Conn./Darien) knocking down a three-pointer.

The Cougars came out of their timeout and answered with a run to stretch the margin to double-figures at the midpoint of the first half.

Adam Drummond (Cork, Ireland/Taft School, Conn.) cut the deficit to seven, 40-33, at the break with a three-pointer at the buzzer. He led the Red Devils with 14 points, going 2-for-3 from beyond the arc.

Allen hit 2-of-3 from long range, adding 10 points, three rebounds and three assists in the first half.

Misericordia used three-pointers and three-point plays to open the lead to 60-41, with five minutes gone in the second half. They stretched the lead to 21 before a Red Devil run cut it back to 13, with just under nine minutes to play.

Drummond and a strong second half as well, finishing with a career and game-high 25 points and seven rebounds, hitting a trio of three-pointers. Allen tallied 23 points, adding three triples as well to go with eight rebounds, five assists and two steals.
