(York, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team came out on top of a thrilling overtime match at York College, posting a 2-1 win over the Spartans on Wednesday night.

Junior Emily Mycek (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) redirected a shot off the stick of classmate Maddie Dombroski (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) on a penalty corner, just over four minutes into overtime to lead the Red Devils to the win.

Sophomore Bridget Fontaine (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) put the Red Devils up, 1-0, scoring off an assist from classmate Sierra Bobb (Dornsife, Pa./Line Mountain) in the second quarter.

The Red Devils held the lead until the Spartans capitalized on a penalty corner with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game to force overtime.

The Red Devils forced a pair of corners in the overtime and Mycek knocked one in off the post to lead Dickinson to the win.

The Spartans held the advantage in shots, holding a 17-6 edge, but the Red Devils would make them count, pulling even at 1-1 on the young season.

York forced 10 corners while allowing five on the defensive end, but senior goaltender Heather Meeder (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) rose to the challenge, making seven saves while sophomore Ellie Werner (Hellertown, Pa./Moravian Academy) came away with a huge defensive save on the night.

The Red Devils return home this weekend, hosting Shenandoah University on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
