(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #16-ranked Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins scored a pair of first half goals to remain unbeaten in Centennial Conference play with a 3-1 win at Dickinson on Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue Jays put a goal on the board in the ninth minute as Izzy Thompson redirected a cross from Maddie Brown-Sherer for a 1-0 lead.
The Red Devils capitalized on a penalty corner as first-year Sierra Bobb (Dornsife, Pa./Line Mountain) found the back of the cage with an assist from Mia Scott (Mount Laurel, Md./Holy Cross) with just over 20 minutes remaining in the half.
The Blue Jays pulled back in front, capitalizing on a corner of their own as Alyse Tran finished an assist from Michaela Corvi with 12:01 to play before the break.
The Red Devils came out of halftime and immediately put the pressure on, forcing a pair of corners. Hopkins was able to weather the surge by the Red Devils but were pressured for the entire game.
The Blue Jays tallied an insurance goal 11:20 left to play on a Seema Sajjan redirect, off a shot by Grace Hillman.
Hopkins held a 16-6 shot advantage and forced 17 penalty corners while allowing just seven on the defensive end. Jodie Baris made a pair of saves in goal for the Blue Jays as they improve to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
The Red Devils slip to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in the conference. They are on the road on Saturday, traveling to Washington College for a 1:00 pm start.
