(Carlisle, Pa.) – Dickinson senior James Turner (Ridgefield, Conn./Suffield Academy) was named a D3football.com Second-team Preseason All-American, announced this week. He joins seven other players from the Centennial Conference to receive preseason honors this fall.
Last season, Turner was an All-South Region Second-team selection on defense after earning All-Centennial Conference honors for the second straight year as a First-team linebacker.
Turner had a great start to his junior season, breaking the single-game tackle record in the opener against Washington & Lee University. The junior linebacker tallied 23 stops against the Generals and followed up that performance with 16 tackles, including 11 solos at Muhlenberg.
He recorded nine solo tackles in a big win at Juniata and had a 42-yard interception return for a touchdown against Gettysburg to keep the Little Brown Bucket in Carlisle for the second straight year.
Turner finished with exactly 100 tackles last season, raising his career mark to 298 to move up to fourth all-time in program history. He added three interceptions, returning two for touchdowns. He tallied a pick-six in the home finale and added another interception on the final play of the game to secure a 36-29 win over Moravian.
Dickinson finished 4-6 overall and 4-5 in the Centennial Conference last season. The Red Devils open the 2019 campaign on the road, traveling to Washington & Lee University for a 1:00 pm kick-off on September 7th.
