(Westminster, Md.) – The Dickinson baseball team improved to 21-8 overall and 8-3 in the Centennial Conference, posting a 9-0 shutout at McDaniel College on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Ben Rappaport (Wilton, Conn./St. Luke's) went the distance for a complete-game shutout, scattering five hits and recording five strikeouts while surrendering just three walks to improve to 4-1 on the hill.
The Red Devils put three runs on the board in the top of the fifth as Brenden Pell (Delran, N.J./Penn Charter) doubled to score Chris Delsandro (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and Alex Cohen (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn Charter) drove in two runs after Max Matilsky (Bernardsville, N.J./Morristown-Beard) singled and stole second.
Pat Davis (New Providence, N.J./Morristown-Beard) reached on an error and stole second to set up and RBI single for Delsandro to give Dickinson a 4-0 lead in the top of the sixth.
The Red Devils added a lot insurance in the top of the ninth after Ben Carter (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) reached on walk and stole second. The Green Terror booked two outs, but Dickinson would come alive with three straight singles and a two-RBI double from Alex Jacobson (Wilton, Conn./Wilton).
Senior Max Brown (Annapolis, Md./McDonogh) added an RBI single in the inning as well.
Cohen went 4-for-5 on the day, driving in three runs while Volpe went 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored. Matilsky and Reilly each tallied two hits on the day as well.
The Red Devils (21-8, 8-3) will face the Green Terror again on Thursday as they come back to MacPhail Field for a 3:30 pm start.
