Rutkowski Runs With Pack at Lights Out Invite

(Reading, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's cross country team, ranked 12th in the latest USTFCCCA national poll, placed second behind Division I, University of Connecticut, at the Albright College Lights Out Invitational on Friday night.

 

Senior Sarah Rutkowski (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) broke up the leading pack of Huskies, claiming second overall with a time of 13:43, and denying Connecticut a perfect score.

 

Connecticut placed 10 runners in the top 11 while the Red Devils were dominant among DIII teams, claiming the next 10 spots.

 

Junior Claire Brawdy (Eden, N.Y./Eden) and first-year Kelsey Horowitz (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) crossed the line 12th and 13th with times of 14:26 and 14:30.

 

Junior Mackenzie Shelgren (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) and sophomore Polly Terzian (Washington, D.C./National Cathedral) posted times of 14:33 to both finish in the top 15 overall.

 

The Red Devils tallied 44 points with Alvernia University taking third with 105. Hartwick scored 126 to capture fourth in the seven team event.

 

The Red Devils will compete in another twilight meet next Friday, traveling to the Galen Piper Invitational at Shippensburg University. The first race is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
