Devil Women Tie for Second at Shippensburg Invitational

The nationally-ranked, Division II Red Raiders ran to the team title with 20 points on the day. The Red Devils tied Gettysburg for second with 72. Frostburg State was fourth (91) with the Shippensburg Alumni scoring 120.
The Devils were missing some of their top runners due to injury, but had some strong individual performances. Junior Kim Powell (Canton, Conn./Canton) led the Devils, placing ninth with a time of 15:40.
Senior Sarah Romano (Merion, Pa./Lower Marion) covered the 4k course in a time of 15:52 to place 12th while sophomore Julie Platt (Wynnewood, Pa./Springside) placed 15th in her first collegiate race, clocking a time of 16:06.
Sophomore Rebecca Robbins (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon)finished 19th (16:24) while Virginia Farley (Charlotte, Va.) andMerit O'Hare (Pittsburgh, Pa./N. Allegheny) were 21st and 22nd, respectively, with times of 16:38 and 16:41.
Shippensburg's Neely Spence won the individual title in a time of 13:56.
The Red Devils return to action on September 15th in the Little Three Championship at Gettysburg.
