(Allentown, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's track & field team turned in some of its best performances of the season Sunday at the 2019 Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships at Muhlenberg College.
Sophomore Isabel Cardi (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) was third in the 1500-meters and third in a strong showing in a the 5000-meters, posting times of 4:39.81 and 17:23.94, respectively. Her 1500 time was a season-best.
Emma Johnston (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) ran to silver in the 5000-meters, crossing the line in a season-best 17:23.87. Junior Sarah House (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) and Tessa Cassidy (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) came across fifth and and sixth as seven Red Devils finished in the top 20.
Allyson Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) was fourth in the 800-meters with a season-best 2:17.04 and added a 12th place finish in the 1500 with a mark of 4:53.46. Sarah Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) placed fifth in the 400-meters, clocking a time of 1:01.09.
Senior Naji Thompson (Springfield, N.J./Oak Knoll) captured bronze in the 100-meters with a time of 12.58 and anchored the 4x100 relay to fifth, joining Wrutoe Bonwin (Lynn, Mass./KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate), Natalie Suess (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and Tabtian.
Suess was 12th in the triple jump, clearing 9.54 meters and first-year Lana Ljoka (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) was 13th, going 9.31-meters.
First-year Analisa Groble (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) earned a bronze medal with a throw of 35.48-meters in the javelin.
Jenny Beck (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) was eighth in the heptathlon. She had a strong showing with a first-place finish in the shot put, placed third in the javelin and fifth in the 800-meter run. She was 14th in the open shot put event while Mary Smith (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) was eighth.
First-year Alexandra Colby (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) claimed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 16.31.
The Red Devils were third in the team standings with 115 points on the weekend. Johns Hopkins captured the team title with 278 points overall while Swarthmore was second. The Red Devils are scheduled to compete at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier on May 13.
