Indoor T&F Shows Well at River Hawk Opener

(Selinsgrove, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's indoor track & field team started off the season at the 2018 River Hawk Opener at Susquehanna University on Friday night.

The Red Devils had some strong performances, led by sophomore Sarah Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) with a win in the 800 and a second-place finish in the mile. She posted a mark of 2:30.53 to cross the line first in the 800 and clocked a time of 5:36.10 in the mile.

The Red Devils had solid showings in the mile with four runners in the top-15 and in the 3,000-meters. Sophomore Eve Charest (Greenfield, Mass./Northfield Mount Hermon) led the way, finishing fourth with a time of 11:44.88.

Amelia Hallock (New York, N.Y./Millenium) placed sixth in the 3,000 with a time of 11:51.95 while Maura Reilly (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South), Claire Connors (Needham, Mass./Needham) and Ruby Stricker (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) came across the line in seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively. Reilly placed sixth in the 800 while Connors came across ninth. Senior Olivia Watson (Weston, Conn./Weston) was fifth in the 800.

Senior Naji Thompson (Springfield, Va./Oak Knoll) claimed silver in the 60-meters with a time of 8.22 and finished 12th in the 200. First-year Alexandra Colby (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) ran to fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (10.06) and placed eighth in the 200-meters with a time of 28.69.

First-year Lana Ljoka (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) covered 9.72 meters to place eighth in the triple jump.

The Red Devils are in action again next Saturday, traveling to the Haverford Invitational.
