(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's track & field team placed second at the Mason-Dixon Invitational, hosted by Gettysburg College on Saturday.
Wrutoe Bonwin (Lynn, Mass./KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate) placed fourth in the 100 meters and eighth in the 200 while Natalie Suess (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and Liana Tabtiang (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) placed third and fourth the 400 meters, .75 seconds apart.
Macallan Fox (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) and Sophia Brown (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional) ran to fourth and fifth in the 800 meters while the Red Devils claimed the top five spots in the mile run. Kelsey Horowitz (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) led the way with a time of 5:12.43.
The Red Devils had strong showings in the mid-distance and distance events. Lucile Ionescu (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) placed second in the 3000 meter steeplechase while Sarah House (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) won the 5000 with Emma Johnston (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham) and Eve Charest (Greenfield, Mass./Northfield Mount Hermon) coming across second and third.
Bonwin, Suess and Tabtiang joined first-year Cara Dougherty (Haddon, N.J./Haddon Township) to claim third in the 4x100 relay, combining for a time of 51.03. Suess and Tabtiang added a second place showing in the 4x400 relay, joining Allyson Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and Sarah Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) for a time of 4:01.73, just three-tenths of a second behind first place Frostburg State.
Gettysburg captured the team title with 155.5 points with the Red Devils second with 138. Dickinson will compete at the Penn Relays in Thursday and Friday before heading to the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Tune Up on Saturday.
