Red Devil Women Honored as UST&FCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team

 

 

(New Orleans, La.) - Dickinson College was recognized as a U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association 2011 Division III All-Academic Women's Track & Field Team. A total of 111 institutions earned the distinction as a result of cumulative grade-point-average of 3.10 or better.

 

The Red Devils sent its largest contingent to the NCAA National Championships this spring. Senior Kim Powell (Canton, Conn./Canton), junior Catherine Campbell (Carlisle, Pa./Trinity) and first-year Taylor Ludman (Willow Street, Pa./Solanco) all competed in the 10,000 meter event. Powell led the way, crossing the line 11th overall. Ludman finished 17th, followed by Campbell in 19th place.

 

Eight women were named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for indoor track & field while the Devils had seven athletes qualify during the outdoor season. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a minimum, cumulative grade-point-average of at least 3.40 and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions or compete at the conference championships.
