Ludman Wins 5000 at Keough Invitational
(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's indoor track & field team turned in some strong performances at the Haverford Keogh Invitational on Saturday afternoon. There was no team scoring in the meet.
The Red Devils had a one-two-fourth place showing in the mile. Senior Kent Pecora (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) won the event with a time of 4:17.32, followed by junior Dylan Straughan (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) in second with a time of 4:24.26. First-year Ryan Steinbock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) placed fourth with a time of 4:27.94. Pecora added a second place finish in the 800 meters, clocking a time of 1:58.06.
Senior Brian Krusell (Newington, Conn./Newington) finished second in the 5000 meters behind unattached former teammate Greg Leak. Krusell finished with a time of 15:17.82.
First-year Aaron Pannell (Trenton, N.J.) placed second in the 55 meter dash (6.63) while junior Michael Tucker (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) was one of six Red Devils to place in the top 10 of the shot put. Tucker was second with a throw of 14.08 meters.
First-year Nick Schwab (Stone Ridge, N.Y.) cleared a height of 1.75 meters to place fourth in the high jump.
First-year Taylor Ludman (Willow Street, Pa./Solanco) led the Red Devil women, winning the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:23.90.
The women had a strong showing in the shot put as well, led by first-year Carsissa Kurtz (Montoursville, Pa.) in fifth place with a throw of 9.87 meters. Sophomore Justine Davenport (Laurel, Md./The Madeira School) placed sixth (9.56m) while junior Leslie Ward (Danver, Mass./The Governor's Academy) was eighth with a toss of 9.24m).
Sophomore Hannah Richarson (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) ran to sixth in the 400 meters, clocking a time of 1:04.04.
The Red Devils are scheduled to compete at Boston University and Susquehanna next weekend.
