Shea Claims Point in Red Devil Setback at F&M

(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback at Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Olivia Shea (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) earned the point for the Red Devils, winning her singles flight to improve to 8-3 on the year, going (6-2, 2-6, 10-8).

Shea partnered with first-year Olivia Carnevale (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) in the third doubles flight and battled to an 8-4 setback.

Lexi Epstein (Gibson Island, Md./Severn School) and Neve Brennan (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) had a strong match at number two doubles, falling 8-6.

First-year Rachel O'Brien (West Roxbury, Mass./Dana Hall School) had a strong showing in singles, falling 7-5, 6-3. Sophomore Elisa Varlotta (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brashear) had a strong showing in singles as well, dropping a 6-4, 7-5 decision.

The Red Devils slip to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Thursday, hosting Swarthmore College at 4:00 pm in a make-up from Saturday.
