(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team suffered another tough decision, falling 5-4 at Washington College on Saturday afternoon.
The Devils trailed 2-1 at the end of doubles, but made up some ground with strong play in singles. Sophomores Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) and Madeleine Kuhns-Baione (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) put the Devils on the board, winning the third doubles flight, 8-2.
Senior Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julian's) won the third singles match, (6-3, 6-2), while Kuhns-Baione and Fox claimed the fifth and sixth flights with identical scores of 6-1, 6-0.
Washington, ranked 13th in the Atlantic South Region, improved to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the Centennial Conference.
The Red Devils slip to 3-7 overall and 2-4 I in the CC. Dickinson returns home and will face Wilkes University on Monday, in a non-conference double-header with the men at 4:00 pm.
