Cornell College Edges Women's Tennis 5-4

(Orlando, Fla.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team dropped a heartbreaker in its second match in Orlando, falling to Cornell College 5-4, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Rams took a 2-1 lead after doubles with wins in the first and third flights. The Red Devils claimed the second with junior Lauren Altschuler (Malvern, Pa./Eastern) and first-year Olivia Shea (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) earning the point, 8-5.

Seniors Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) and Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julian's School) had strong matches, winning the second and third singles flights in straight sets. Parks posted a (6-4, 6-4) victory and Nunes went (6-3, 6-3).

Sophomore Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) won the fifth flight, (6-3, 6-2), to give the Devils their fourth point of the match.

The Red Devils drop to 0-2 on the season. They are scheduled to face Hamilton College on Thursday.
