(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson women's tennis team is ranked 15th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Atlantic South Regional Poll. The Red Devils join #2-ranked Johns Hopkins, the defending Centennial Conference Champions, and conference rival Swarthmore College, who is ranked eighth.
Dickinson earned a spot in the Centennial Conference playoffs last season, posting an 8-2 record in the conference. Senior Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) had an outstanding season in 2013, posting an overall singles mark of 13-4, with a 9-1 record in conference play. She improved to 40-15 overall in her career, with a 23-7 mark in the CC.
Lavery earned Second-team All-Conference honors in singles and joined teammate Alyisa Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) to earn First-team recognition in doubles. The duo made their second appearance on the All-CC team, earning honorable mention in 2012.
They combined for a 12-5 mark in the top doubles flight, dropping just one conference match to go 8-1 on the year. Rodgers raised her career doubles record to 40-28 and 25-12 in the conference while Lavery improved to 34-22 and 21-9 in the CC.
The Red Devils return to action in early March, looking to make their fourth appearance in the conference tournament in the past five seasons. The Devils earned bids in 2010, 2012 and 2013. Dickinson travels to The College of New Jersey on March 1st, to begin the spring season.
