Devil Women Top Saint Mary's 7-2 in Spring Break Opener
(Orlando, Fla.) - The Dickinson College women's tennis team improved to 2-1 overall, winning its first match of the spring. The Red Devils posted a 7-2 win over Saint Mary's College of Indiana on Sunday.
Dickinson swept the doubles matches to lead the match, 3-0. The Devils claimed all but the second and third singles flights. Sophomore Alysia Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) earned two points, winning the top singles flight and joining first-year Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Vir./Huntington) for an 8-6 win in doubles.
Leigh Oczkowski (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic) and Maddy Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) won third doubles and earned points with wins in the fifth and sixth singles flights, respectively. Nora Hajnoczky (Wallingford, Conn./Strath Haven) captured the fourth singles flight.
